Our dealer Hotraco America Latina SAS is pleased to announce its participation in the construction of the new Potato Research, Development and Storage Center in Colombia. On April 25, 2023, in the city of Tunja, Boyacá, Colombia, Hotraco America Latina SAS inaugurated the new Potato Research, Development and Storage Center of the company Súper Ricas, which will store up to 4,000 tons of potatoes thanks to Mooij's advanced climate control system. This has the capacity to preserve the quality and freshness of the product for up to 9 months.
Ventilation & cooling system
This 3,500m2 center is equipped with Mooij's Croptimiz-r controller, integrated variable speed fans and mechanical cooling system, which makes it an optimal investment with low energy consumption. A simple and economical system in its operation and maintenance. The management of storage conditions is fully automatic, which allows maintaining potato freshness and correct conditions for seed storage (when required). Hotraco's controlled storage not only maintains the quality of fresh potatoes but also prevents the development of pests and diseases, such as potato blight.
Minimize sprouting
Aditionally, by maintaining a stable environment, possible sprouting is stopped or can be controlled by applying anti-sprouting agents that maximize their effectiveness by having a controlled ventilation and an airtight environment. This is the reason Hotraco recommends good storage practices in order to maximize crop yields by combining technology and the specialized advice we offer in order to have greater efficiency in storage.
